Motivation Mondays

10. Shabba – A$AP Ferg Feat. A$AP Rocky

Sha-Shabba Ranks!!! Ferg released Shabba on his Trap Lord album back in 2013, around the time that A$AP Mob originally gained their fame. Trap Lord was a super dope piece that gave Ferg his signature sound. Ferg had the right idea….Why not start the week off feeling like Shabba Ranks?

9. Palace – A$AP Rocky

Speaking of A$AP Mob, Rocky dropped his debut mixtape “Live Love A$AP” which featured Palace as the mixtape’s opening track. He started his career with a bang, which makes Palace the perfect track to blast on a Monday.

8. Temptation – Big K.R.I.T

“Yeah I’m tryna turn this into to sumn….” Big Krit is underrated and I think he needs more shine which is how he landed on this list. Temptation was on Krit’s “4 Eva N A Day” tape that dropped in 2012. 4 Eva N A Day is a great tape when you want lyricism and a bit of dirty southern rap. Turn your week into something positive with Temptation.

7. The Worst Guys – Childish Gambino Feat. Chance the Rapper

What a great combo! Gambino and Chance did a dope job on this beachy, chilled vibe track. The Worst Guys is a track off of Gambino’s 2013 album, “Because of the Internet,” which I find to be a great song to wake up to early on a Monday morning.

6. Yo – Chris Brown

“Don’t know your name but excuse me miss….” I had to throw it way back with a CB track from ’05. This track is from Chris Brown’s debut album “Chris Brown,” which is where his career launched. It’s been 11 years since the original release of this album. Oh, how time flies. This song is perfect for anyone who’s going in for big opportunities this week.

5. Start the Show – Common

Start the Show says it all. From the beginning of the track, which sounds like the opening of a great act, this song is perfect for a Monday morning when you need a little bit of help to get going. Start the Show is off of Common’s 2007 “Finding Forever” album. Great album, and an even greater artist. Start the show with the living legend Common.

4. Gusto – Isaiah Rashad

“Just ridin’ round getting’ paid…” Isaiah Rashad released Welcome To The Game on Dec. 14, 2014, which contained Gusto as track number 12. “Welcome To The Game” was actually the first full project that I’ve heard by Isaiah Rashad before he dropped Ciliva Demo which I found to be fantastic. Rashad has grown and will continue to get better.

3. Encore – Jay-Z

Why not start the week off by continuing on with the great projects of the previous week? Encore, of course, is off of one of Jay-Z’s greatest albums,”The Black Album.” The track was eventually remixed with Linkin Park’s track “Numb,” which pushed Jay-z and Linkin Park to eventually go on tour together to perform it.

2. School High – Pro Era

Sometimes you have to just let the day flow, like the beat of this track. School High was featured on Pro Era’s Peep the aPROcalypse mixtape which was released back in 2012. The track included Joey Bada$$, Dyemond Lewis, Kirk Knight, and Nyck Caution. This album was released right before the loss of Capital Steez. R.I.P Steelo. 47

1. The Spiteful Chant – Kendrick Lamar Feat. ScHoolboy Q

My number one song this morning is none other than Kendrick Lamar’s The Spiteful Chant, which is off of K.Dot’s Section 80 mixtape that dropped back in 2011. Everyone knows how much I love this tape, so I won’t go into detail. With that being said, there’s no better motivation, than that of being able to handle business on your own. “IM GOING BIG…..”

Enjoy your Monday and have an amazing week.
