Joyner Lucas, a Massachusetts native, first caught my eye on one of the BET Hip-Hop Awards cyphers back in October of 2015. With idols like Biggie, Nas and Method Man, you can only expect greatness. His intellect and deep thoughts expand through his music and video productions. In my opinion, he’s one of the most underrated “underground” rappers I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. This guy has bars for DAYS, and old school flow, with the vocabulary of a genius. He spits over pretty much anything. Lucas’ lyricism will literally put you in his shoes, or in that exact scenario and have you in your feelings.

So far I’ve fell in love with many of his songs for very different reasons. Each one tells a different story or has a moral behind it. I can hear the passion in his tone and through his lyrics which connects me, as a fan, to the artist himself. I can honestly say that he’s not your typical “pu**y ,money, drugs” rapper…this guy has clearly been through or has seen some things and wants to make some noise about it. Joyner Lucas released his debut mixtape “Along Came Joyner” on April 5th 2015.

He finds a way to connect to his audience in all situations lyrically, and relates to all of his listeners, but what stands out the most to me is his humility. I’ve followed Joyner Lucas on social media for a little while now and I’ve witnessed him responding to and thanking his fans at every chance he gets. I respect that so much and I’m an even bigger fan because of it. Look Out for Joyner Lucas.
