Travis Scott, also known as La Flame, has become one of my favorite artists over the past few years. I first fell in love with Scott’s debut mixtape ‘Owl Pharaoh’ back in 2013, where he had tracks with Chaz of Toro y Moi, T.I., A$AP Ferg, Meek Mill and Wale . Travis Scott caught my attention with his unique sound of indie music mixed with trap and hip-hop. Being signed to Epic and GrandHustle and eventually, under Kanye West, he was the perfect addition to the G.O.O.D Music label. With a similar sound to Kid Cudi and Kanye mashed together, along side his production skills, his work screamed G.O.O.D Music.
Since Owl Pharaoh, Scott has released two mixtapes and an album all under the rodeo series. Days Before Rodeo, his second mixtape, brought Travis Scott more recognition around 2014, where he collaborated with producers such as Metro Boomin, Southside, and Lex Luger, along with artists such as Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Big Sean and PARTYNEXTDOOR. With Days Before Rodeo Travis Scott began to blow up in the trap industry.
Rodeo, Scott’s debut album, dropped on Sept. 4, 2015. Rodeo was nothing less of what was expected from La Flame himself based on his previous work. Travis Scott racked in about 700,000 sales his first week and about 85,000 digital copies according to billboard. Scott’s rodeo album featured single “Antidote,” which pulled in 2.7 million streams during the 2nd week after the album’s release date.
After the hype of Rodeo, “After the Rodeo” was released on Sept. 10th 2015. Scott’s third mixtape featured artists such as Future and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Travis Scott went on a joint tour with The Weekend called the Rodeo Madness” tour, where he performed a new song called “Wonderful.” The song was officially released after the end of the tour and is featuring The Weekend.
